SUMMER Fellows Spotlight
Building Stronger Community Connections
Meet Our Spring Intern, Sarah!
February 2024 – This is Sarah! Our wonderful WYAA Intern who will graduate this spring from UW with a bachelor’s degree in human development and family sciences. WYAA first met Sarah in the 2023 Summer STEM Fellows Program, through which she found work with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a Youth Development Professional in their after-school programs with middle schoolers and high schoolers.
Sarah’s eyes light up when she gets to share her enthusiasm for working with adolescents. She’s driven to help teens find their passions, which comes from her own experience. Sarah explains that it took her a little while to figure out what motivated her. When she realized it was shining a positive light on teens and their contributions to community, she was off and running.
Favorite quote – in order to get comfortable, you have to feel uncomfortable. All situations that have been a little uncomfortable have blossomed for her, which was true last summer as a Summer STEM Fellow!
