STEM SPARKS

STEM Sparks: Igniting Curiosity, Mentorship, and Growth

Explore the power of mentorship, emotional growth, and professional development in shaping Wyoming’s future leaders!

This five-part blog series highlights the Wyoming Afterschool Alliance’s Summer STEM Fellowship, showcasing the power of mentorship, emotional growth, and professional development in shaping Wyoming’s future leaders.

Through the lens of Assistant Director of Training at the Program in Education, Afterschool, and Resiliency (PEAR) Jamaal Williams and the experiences of the Fellows, the series explores themes of resilience, empathy, and hope as active disciplines, emphasizing how mentors can help youth navigate “big emotions” and turn challenges into growth opportunities. It also highlights the importance of building STEM pathways in rural communities and creating spaces for diverse students to thrive, preparing them to explore and to thrive beyond the classroom.

Mission: We bridge the gap between Wyoming’s out-of-school programs and the communities they uplift, fueling them with resources, support and opportunities that inspire lifelong learning, growth and connection.
